The federal Pell grants are nowadays referred to as Obama grants for single mothers because the Obama administration increased the funding for these grants. Under the Pell grants for single mothers and other eligible students, for the year 2010-11 the maximum financial reward was USD 5,500.
Other Obama grants for single mothers to go back to school are the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant. Scholarships for single mothers are helping women get a good education and choose a career track to better support themselves and their families

Church Grants & their usage?

The word "church" does not only refer to the building where you go to every Sunday to worship. A church is a congregation that groups together to worship and serve God. Not all the time does a church have enough funds to support the costs and their charity works. That is why there are church grants that are available and offered by some specific sectors and organizations. Churches grants can help new or struggling parishes to construct and maintain their buildings and to use for their usual charity works or community services. These grants may be used for remodeling existing buildings or building new ones. It is through these church grants that some places and towns have their own place to sleep and food to eat, and other charity works that enable them to help those who have lesser in life. These grant monies does a lot to help the churches that need funds in order to perform important works in the community. Churches are famous for helping with charitable works in the community. They are well known for funding and assisting with programs such as providing food for the homeless, charity works and other community services. Almost all churches have volunteers to help with these types of programs, however sometimes the church budgets do not allow them the financial freedom to do as much as they needed and like. You can be given churches grants from several endowments and organizations, as well as some government entities. These monies can help your church flourish in all your good works. The key is just to know where to apply and avail these grants. Grants will generally only be given to faith-based groups if they have specific needs to address. In the case of churches grants, these needs may vary from construction of a new church or church building, to setting up a community center for the homeless. There are various grants available, and www.governmentgrantfoundation.com can help you a lot on how to get you your church grant since the site offers a lot of different types of grants to choose from. Since internet is the most convenient way, this site is the most accessible way to start your path to getting a good church grant. It can be a great way to start serving people through these types of grants and you will be able to start or continue your charity works right away.Retrieved from

Grants available to a Historic Church?

Numerous Grants are available to Historic Churches in the United States. Often, churches are the oldest buildings still standing in their communities and are important not only to churchgoers but to all fellow inhabitants. From the extravagant Catholic churches of early colonists to humble Great Depression houses-turned-churches, numerous private and federal grants are available to make sure these special buildings stay right where they are. The U.S. Department of the Interior began giving grants to pre-Revolutionary War churches in 2003, which started with the Old North Church in Boston receiving $317,000. A great website for church grants is Grants.gov, which offers financing to churches that participate in disaster prevention and relief efforts, youth mentoring, and numerous other community service projects

Elevate America community initiative, a new grant program to support nonprofit organizations offering employment services, including technology skills training and job placement, in local communities across the United States. We had an incredible response with over 300 nonprofits applying for grants through our request for proposal process. This is the latest extension of Elevate America, which was launched in February 2009 to provide people across the United States with no cost and low cost access to the technology skills they need to find employment. Since the program’s launch we have worked with 32 states and the District of Columbia to distribute nearly 900,000 no cost Microsoft training and certification vouchers. Last year we announced the Elevate America Veterans initiative, which focuses on working with nonprofits to address the specific challenges facing U.S. veterans and their spouses in their transition from military to civilian employment.

Many Nursing School Grants available?
 christine huges Posts: 16

Nursing is indeed a noble profession to pursue; it is also a profession in which there happens to be a major shortage of qualified professionals. Within the next decade that shortage will reach a critical stage if something isn’t done now to bring in new nurses for the coming years. One of the strategies to combat the nursing shortage before it becomes a crisis is to offer grants specifically for study in nursing schools around the country. This brings in new nurses graduating each and every year and it also, by stipulation in some grants, ensures that these new nurses will serve a minimum term of service in areas where the need is greatest. These are often hospitals or institutions and health care facilities that have a high need for nursing staff.

What are the Types of Minority Grants?
 daniel wright Posts: 12

There are two main categories of minority grants: · Ethnic minority grants are those designed to offer assistance based on ethnic challenges; such as grants for African American students, or Hispanics. Grant sources fund programs with the ultimate goal of diversifying education and professional fields. · Non-ethnic minority grants offer need-based aid to individuals who by virtue of physical barriers may be challenged or otherwise disadvantaged in pursuit of an education or professional career. Grants for students with disabilities embrace those individuals with physical challenges as well as learning disabilities, like ADD, or autism. Women’s grants make it possible for female students of all backgrounds to break into fields and educational programs that have historically been male-centric.

What about the Native American students grants?
 susan wood Posts: 8

Native Americans constitute the smallest minority group of all, call this their native land and yet are plagued with some of the most disadvantaged backgrounds of all. Up until recently, Native Americans have been isolated in typically remote and rural environments and in reservation communities. Like Hispanics most Native Americans have no family history of higher education - most consider a high school diploma the final goal; a primary reason that Native American grants are so critical.
