help of these grants citizens can repair and renovate their homes making their standard of living better. many people think that why government pays for repairing homes? the logic is government do this thing for community Preservation in a way. the low-income citizens who have their own home but are not able to repair their homes because repairing becoming expensive day by day. as a result of this their homes becomes more and more dangerous day by day. And the members of the home live in unhealthy conditions. Eventually the property in the lack of intervention becomes inhabitable and has to be vacated. An estranged house is harmful for the whole community because it attracts such things which are not good for civilized people and society like drugs, violence and seedy element. So the financial aid provided by the government helps to repair the homes eventually helps the community. It helps the community to stay clean out of these social problems.

Categories of Home Grants

There are four categories of home grants:

The Community Development Block Grant Program and HOME Program: citizens can contact U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and state and local government officials in order to get Grants for Home repairs. This grant is designed for low to moderate-income house owners living in urban or city areas.

USDA Rural Development: this department provides home repair aids to those communities who have population up to 10,000 people. the aid helps low income rural people living in a property which needs immediate repair to make the property habitable and safe.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): this Agency provides assistance to those people whom properties have been destroyed by natural disaster. this grant also provides temporary housing to those people.

Special Housing Adaptations and Specially Adapted Housing Program: The Department of Veterans Affairs helps senior citizens with disabilities to remodel their house according to their needs. this program gives free money to this noble cause. Veterans can make their home handicap friendly with the help of these Grants.

Up to $7,500 can be offered under The Housing Repair and Rehabilitation Grants to remodel or rebuilt homes of underprivileged citizens. The finance under this Grant can be used for following things:

Removing lead paint

Water heating and surface repairs

Roof repair

Mold removal

Handicap accessible

Storm clean up

Well and septic repairs

Weather damage

How to Get the Grants?

Citizens can contact USDA Rural Department, HUD, Veteran's affairs and The US Department of Housing and Urban Development to get the free financial aid for Home repair.

Important Documents

Citizens must provide proof of income, ownership or renting, unemployment in order to be considered for the Grants. When citizens get accepted for the grants, local agencies assess the damage and work that needs to be done. the local agencies then decide the sum of the Grant.
