today, due to the ever increasing cost of dental care. So, when it comes to the impoverished and disadvantaged class, the situation becomes all the more daunting. Even if you have taken a health insurance policy, most of the private health policies do not include dental care as part of their program. Of course Federal government assistance is there; but it is mainly through the state run programs for the homeless, the disabled and the veterans. However, even if the government does not provide direct help to an individual in the form of a grant for dental care; it sponsors grants to the qualified organizations for their training and purchasing of equipment.
The Health Resources and Services Administration or HRSA, is the primary Federal agency set up primarily for people who are needy, uninsured, insulated or medically vulnerable. Without the aid of HRSA, these people would never have an access to the health care services. HRSA provides training to health professionals and also contribute towards improving system of healthcare in rural communities. It awards grants for academic and administrative entities. The grants are essentially for training of persons aspiring to enter the dental health field.
The Equipment to Enhance Training for Health Professionals or EETHP is a grant program, wherein the applicant should be in position to fulfill the stipulated requirements of the health profession training program, under which they have applied for the equipment. The requested equipment should support the aim of the Primary Care Training and Enhancement Program.
Along with these grants which are basically for the institutions dealing with dental care, there are some dental care grant programs specially devised for disabled people. It is observed that generally for this class it’s a restricted access when it comes to dental care, either due to their limited resources or because of physical disability. They can benefit from the grants offered by the private organization with the backing of state and federal funds.
There are some non profit organizations such as Mission Mercy, and Geriatric Dental Group who provide free or economical services to people from low income group, senior citizens and disabled people. The services offered are in the field of health, dental and diagnostic assistance. The funding for these organizations is through federal and state grants and private donations. As the encouragement as well as monetary backing is provided by the government, no patient is turned away due to his inability to pay for the treatment.
As everybody is well aware grants in any field are provided by the federal and state government primarily for the needy, underprivileged, and disadvantaged class of the society; if you fall in any of these categories, you should definitely try to take benefit of the grants available to you, to better your living condition. As you can see, even though there is no direct help such as grants for dental care, there are lots of indirect options accessible to you, which are backed and funded by the federal and state government.
